A view from an un-named turnout on the south rim road (Desert View Drive/AZ64). The wind from the north was being funneled up out of the canyon here and it was a challenge to even stand up. After this stop it got too dark for any more photography especially since the buffeting from the wind made it impossible to brace the camera for long exposures. (Jan 08)

Custer Battlefield National Monument
Custer's Last Stand. Markers have been placed where each trooper fell throughout the memorial. The area inside the wrought iron fence is where Custer's troop made their 'last stand'. It was originally the troopers grave sites as each was buried where they fell, but later they were disinterred and placed under the monument that was erected and memorial markers were placed. NEW YORK
Chimney Bluff State Park
Chimney Bluff State Park is located on the South shore of Lake Ontario near Souda Bay, NY. The high silica clay bluff is being eroded into formations that are known as 'dragon backs'. These formations take the form of sharp ridge lines and peaks that form from the top of the cliff and descend to the waterline. While not as colorful as the Grand Canyon, these formations are some of the most stunning visually that I have run across.
